France to Accelerate Military Support for Ukraine

After meeting with Polish and German leaders, French President Emanuel Macron promised to support Ukraine’s offensive attacks, saying his country will increase supplying more ammunition and military supplies for Kyiv.

President Macron said France is fully committed to keep supplying the Ukrainian army with arms and military supplies in the coming days and weeks.

The trilateral meeting among Poland, Germany and France, known as the “Weimar Triangle” took place in Paris on Monday, June 12.

Responding to the question of whether Germany agreed to provide Ukraine with further security assurance, Olaf Scholz, German Chancellor said, “We clearly need to take such an action.”

Over the past two days, Ukrainian forces claimed to have recaptured seven villages from Russian troops. Ukrainian authorities linked the recent victories to the continued financial and military support from Kyiv’s Western allies which led to new waves of counteroffensives in occupied parts of Ukraine.

This comes as the United States in the past week announced it will provide a new military aid package worth $2 billion for Ukraine, which includes sophisticated missiles, artillery and ammunition.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, in his recent visit to Washington reiterated that his country would continue supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russian invasion for as long as it takes.
