Israeli forces conducted a military raid in the West Bank city of Jenin on Monday, killing at least five Palestinians and injuring 91 others, according to the Health Ministry.
The casualties were caused by Israeli gunfire during the raid, resulting in the death and injury of 91 Palestinians, including 23 in critical condition.
The Israeli military said the unique operation was aimed at arresting a suspect, which resulted to the injury of at least eight Israeli soldiers as well.
An Israeli military helicopter fired missiles at a residential building in the city, marking the first use of military aircraft by Israel in the West Bank since 2002, witnesses said.
The spokesperson of the Israeli military confirmed using helicopter in this unique operation in the disputed land and said they were left with no other option.
Meanwhile, the foreign ministry of Palestine has said that Israel’s military raid in the West Bank city of Jenin is a dangerous move that can cause further bloodshed in the region. The ministry called on the international community to take immediate action and interfere before the situation gets escalated.
Nearly 165 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the start of this year, according to Palestinian figures. At least 21 Israelis have also been killed in separate attacks during the same period.
