At least four Pakistani policemen were killed, and 12, including seven police officers, were injured after two suicide bombers attacked Pakistan’s north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
The attack occurred in the tribal district’s Bara, which borders Afghanistan. According to the police, one of the suicide bombers blew himself up at the compound’s gate, located at a police station and other government offices. In contrast, the suicide vest of the other attacker detonated after the police shot him.
According to rescue officials, the injured have been taken to a hospital for medical treatment, and security officers have cordoned off the location so they can collect evidence.
The attack came a day after militants attacked a check post in Peshawar, killing two police officers and wounding two others.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack.
Pakistani officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, strongly condemned the blast in Peshawar and paid tribute to the family of police personnel.
Recently, the militants, including TTP and BLA groups, have intensified their attacks targeting police officers in Pakistan.
