After three people were found dead in a “horrific and tragic incident,” UK police closed down Nottingham, a city in central England, on Tuesday.
Police announced that a 31-year-old man had been detained on suspicion of murder. They were also looking into another incident they thought was related in which a van attempted to run over three individuals.
At first, two bodies were discovered in the city’s centre. Police were summoned to another incident nearby where a van had attempted to run over three persons just after 4 am local time (03:00 GMT). They are receiving hospital care, Aljazeera reported.
Another man was found dead on another road just outside the city centre.
“This is a horrific and tragic incident which has claimed the lives of three people,” Chief Constable Kate Meynell said in the statement.
“We believe these three incidents are all linked, and we have a man in custody. This investigation is at its early stages, and a team of detectives is working to establish exactly what has happened,” she added.
She also pleaded with the people to exercise patience as investigations go on.
“At this time, a number of roads in the city will remain closed as this investigation progresses,” she said.
