The general worker who allegedly stole almost $43 000 from and injured animal rights activist Dorin Boyce has been remanded to Dodds until October 23, 2023.
Wayne Jabari Holder, 29, of Kellman Land, Black Rock, St Michael is accused of committing eight offences, including money laundering.
Two women are charged along with him, facing two charges each.
It is alleged that on September 6, 2023, he entered Boyce’s house as a trespasser and stole US$4 000 (BDS$7 920); £80 (BDS$196.99); BDS$3 000 and a cash pan worth $200, and at the time he had a weapon.
Holder is further charged with causing serious bodily harm to Boyce with intent to maim, disfigure or disable her or to cause some serious bodily harm to her, on the same date.
It is further alleged that he stole $2 000 belonging to Boyce on June 29, 2023; and that he engaged in money laundering between June 17 and September 5, 2023, disposing of the amount being the proceeds of crime.
Meantime, Holder and 22-year-old Tia Azariah Gibson, also of the same address, are charged with stealing $10 000 belonging to Boyce between June 17 and September 5, 2023; and that they engaged in money laundering in that they disposed of the amount being the proceeds of crime.
Holder is further charged with 46-year-old Cheryl Patricia Holder of stealing $22 500 belonging to the same complainant between June 17 and September 5, 2023, as well as money laundering in that he disposed of the sum where is the proceeds of crime.
The three were not required to plead to the indictable charges.
There were no objections to bail for the two accused women who were represented by Senior Counsel Angella Mitchell-Gittens. They were each offered $10 000 which they secured with one surety.
Meantime, Sergeant Randolph Boyce objected to bail for Wayne Holder on several grounds, including the nature and seriousness of the offence, the strength of the evidence against him, fears that he would interfere with witnesses, and the protection of the community.
Attorney-at-law Kristin Vanderpool made an application for bail for the accused man.
However, after mulling over the submissions, Chief Magistrate Ian Weeks remanded him to Dodds until October 23, 2023, when he will return to the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.
On that same day, his co-accused are also expected to make their next court appearance.
