Three aliens of Somali origin were on Thursday arrested in Machakos after they were found in a military truck carrying contraband goods.
The truck was intercepted by security officers manning a roadblock at Kivandini area along the Garissa-Thika highway.
A police report filed at Matuu police station in Yatta states that a multi-agency team of officers from Kanyonyo raised an alarm forcing the officers in the area to act.“Upon a search, some 290 bags of sugar each weighing 50 kilos and 100 cartons each containing 16 cans of two and half kilos of milk were found,” it states.
The trio was booked in at Matuu police station pending the conclusion of the probe.
Also nabbed is the driver of the truck alongside his co-driver both from the transport pool section.
Preliminary investigations show that the aliens were destined for Nairobi with the goods have been smuggled into the country from Somalia.
Detectives probing the matter said the foreigners were headed to Nairobi’s Eastleigh where they operate a business.
