Blood donation campaigns enjoy huge turnouts

As part of Muara Maritime Services Sdn Bhd’s (MMS) strong commitment to its corporate social responsibility initiative and in support of the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) repeated call for blood donation, MMS organised its third blood donation drive in collaboration with the Blood Donation Centre at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital yesterday.

MMS extended an invitation to individuals with special needs from the Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei to set up a booth to showcase their coffee-making skills and their baked goods for sale throughout the day.

The event themed, ‘Every Drop Counts’, was held at the Samudera Hall, Muara Naval Base attracting participation from 70 personnel.

MMS hoped the blood collected will aid the ministry’s continuous effort to replenish its blood reserves and save the lives in need.

Meanwhile, Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College (MDPMAMB) recently organised its annual blood donation drive at the Student Learning Service Centre (SLSC).

The event was organised by the college’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Unit in collaboration with the Blood Donation Centre.

She also thanked the donors, volunteers, students’ council members, peer counsellors and HSE cadets for their participation. Meanwhile, the Blood Donation Centre under the Department of Laboratory Services at the MoH is set to hold several blood donation campaigns and urged the public to assist maintaining blood supplies in the country.
