Over 2,000 participants from government departments and agencies in the Belait District gathered at the district’s Municipal Field and Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (PSB SOAS) Religious School to mark Maulidur Rasul, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) yesterday.
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha was guest of honour at the municipal field event.
The event began with the recitation of Al-Quran verses, led by Mosque Affairs Officer at RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque Abdul Qayyum bin Haji Aminuddin followed by the interpretation read by religious teacher from Pengiran Setia Negara Pengiran Haji Mohd Yusof Religious School Md Sufri Kamaluddin bin Morsidi.
A tazkirah titled ‘Sunnah Dihayati, Hidup Diberkati’ was delivered by lecturer at Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan’s (KUPU SB) Language Centre Dr Muhammad Yadiy bin Haji Mat Yassin.
The event continued with participants receiving certificates and a Tausyeh performance by students of Pengiran Setia Negara Pengiran Haji Mohd Yusof Religious School, led by Haji Mohd Faizal bin Haji Abdullah.
It was followed by the recitation of Dikir Marhaban, Sayyidul Istighfar, Doa Selamat and Selawat, led by Kampong Sungai Teraban Mosque Imam Mohd Nur Islam bin Suria.
The minister then led the procession on a 3.4-kilometre route, passing several scenic locations and the heart of Kuala Belait.
Meanwhile, the celebration at PSB SOAS Religious School was joined by the minister’s spouse Datin Hajah Mahayon binti Haji Mohd Taha along with 400 attendees.
The event began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah led by religious education officer at Islamic Studies Department Hajah Rohani binti Haji Moksin.
The same tazkirah was delivered by Da’ie at Brunei Islamic Religious Council Siti Amal Zakiah binti Haji Md Yusof.
It was followed by Ya Sayyida Sadat and Ahlunnuha Tausyeh performance by religious teachers in Belait and Dikir Marhaban by Belait District Women’s Welfare Association members.
The event concluded with handover of gifts to Siti Amal Zakiah and the recitation of Doa Selamat led by Hajah Rohani. – Daniel Lim
