Berea Ladies win pre-season tournament

Berea Ladies have recorded their significant and celebratory-worthy victory at the Berea Women‘s pre-season tournament that took place on Saturday.

The games began with the Berea Ladies going against Shepherd Ladies FC and gave their opponent a handful bashing of 5-1 on the scoreboard. In the second match Thupakubu Ladies went head-on with Limkokwing Ladies and left them with an unforgettable three lashes to naught (3-0).

In the losers finals, Shepherds Ladies went against Limkokwing Ladies FC, Shepherd Ladies FC shook off their embarrassment and claimed a 3-0 win against Limkokwing Ladies. At the finals Berea Ladies asserted their dominance against Thupakubu Ladies by pillaging their confidence and beat them 4-0.

The President of District Football Association (DIFA) Berea and the Founder of Berea Ladies FC, Lekhooa Thabaneng, said the purpose of the tournament was to provide a platform for buyers to see the real potential of the players that they bought before the season starts. Another reason was for referees to familiarize themselves with new players in preparation of the new season. Thabaneng indicated that another motive for the tournament was to forge about the oneness within the Berea district through football. However, they opted for the Maseru team (Limkokwing Ladies) because of the shortage of teams that were in the super league.

Speaking as the Founder of the club, Thabaneng said he was very proud of all the efforts the team was displaying and he further commended the team for that. The team has more than ten players which have been signed up and Thabaneng said that their coach has only been working with these players for a month now, yet they see improvement already because the team has been scoring goals.

Thabeng said that there were no awards in the tournament, however they will provide the awards in the next pre-season.

The best player was ‘Makhotso Moalosi who scored four goals, two in the first game and two in the second games. Thabaneng said these games also give exposure because they wanted companies to start buying in these tournaments.

Berea Ladies FC Coach, Lehloenya Nkhahle, also commended the team for a good sports womanship. Nkhahle said that Berea Ladies was no longer a small club and that they are now stronger and more competitive. However, he said he was not yet satisfied with the team’s performance and that they have to upgrade as well as become one of the best teams that Lesotho has ever seen.
