Diego Simeone gives Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers the short shrift as Argentine verges on full-time custard pie

After a hard fought point in Glasgow, Diego Simeone seemed in no rush to shake Brendan Rodgers' hand at full-time.

Celtic and Atletico Madrid played out a pulsating 2-2 draw that saw the Premiership champions twice pegged back after taking the lead and the Spaniards finishing with ten men when Rodrigo de Paul was sent off late on. Despite still waiting on a first group stage win in the Champions League, Rodgers was delighted with how his team performed against a quality opponent.

He spoke of his respect for Simeone before the game, but there didn't seem much coming back his way from the Argentine after the final whistle blew. The Atleti boss looked more interested in gesturing and remonstrating with the referee, not even looking at Rodgers as he offered his hand. And it appeared as if he was about to make his way up the tunnel after giving Rodgers the big custard pie.

But the former Inter midfielder seemed to realise Rodgers was standing beside him waiting just in time. But even then, it was a cursory and swift half handshake before disappearing into the bowels of Celtic Park.

It was noticed by those watching on though. One punter accused Simeone of being "classless" while another opted for "rude." Another pondered whether there was "beef" between the two bosses although that seems unlikely given Rodgers' glowing pre-match praise of his opposite number.
