Fake tan hack promises to give you perfectly fluffy brows - or orange ones

Fans of beauty have likely dabbled in fake tan at some point in their life, hoping to appear to have a golden, beachy glow despite living in rainy Britain.

Whether you're a devout tanner or ended up with a patchy tan that one time you tried it at prom, you've probably not thought about putting fake tan in your eyebrows as a way of making them fuller.

TikTok has decided this is the best way to give a naturally fluffy brow, without having to draw them on with makeup every morning - it looks convincing too with 42.9 million of us watching fake tan eyebrow videos.

Self tanner is one of the internet's favourite wonder products, with makeup fans having used it as semi permanent lip liner as well as a contouring technique.

Now, gurus sights are set on brows, an often problematic but crucial part of the face.

From henna to beard dye, there's plenty of hacks to avoid using actual brow dye on your eyebrows, however this fake tan one is less convincing than others.

If your hand isn't steady enough to fill in sparse patches while in a rush each morning, TikToker Michelle Kyra shared a clip of her applying fake tan to her brows to become a "catfish".

While many are using fake tan like dye over their whole eyebrow, Michelle carefully paints individual hairs into her brow gaps and blends it out to give an even look.

The idea is that the soft brown colour of the tan will create a background to your darker brow hairs, creating a fuller brow overall rather than darkening your whole eyebrow.

However, Michelle cuts the video before the reveal and doesn't appear to have posted a follow up.

More forthcoming about the results was Rachel Rigler, who actually posted a video in 2021 showing off her self tanner brows. Rachel showed her brows before and after, with the gaps appearing to be filled in by colour.

"I do this all the time," said one commenter, while another said: "wow they literally look so good".

Rather than covering your whole brow with dye, which can leave a blockier brow rather than the on-trend natural look, the self tan technique uses an angled brush to draw on hairs where they are missing.

Blending this into your natural brow could give a fluffy looking brow without any effort in the mornings, just be careful not to use too much or you could end up with an orange eyebrow.

One commenter on Rachel's video said: "I did this and my eyebrows were orange" and another frantically added: "I have school tomorrow. How do I get this off without tan remover."

As most fake tans are meant to give warmth as well as colour, going orange is a very likely side effect.

Although Rachel had good results, they appear minimal and might not be worth the tangerine risks - or at least keep the tan remover close by in case it all goes wrong.
