I'm A Celeb fans are voting for Matt Hancock 'to cause drama on Twitter'

I'm a Celebrity fans took to Twitter to express their anger after Mike Tindall was evicted over Matt Hancock on Saturday.

The former health secretary has once again dodged a public elimination, making him one of the last three campmates ahead of tonight's final alongside Owen Warner and Jill Scott.

While many were outraged that the politician was still in the running, other amused viewers hinted they were voting to keep Matt in on purpose in order to watch Twitter fans have a "meltdown" on the site.

Royal Tindall was the seventh celebrity to be voted out of the jungle in last night's instalment of the reality show, reports Wales Online.

Many were clearly shocked that the cabinet minister had made it this far, but others were quick to point out that those on the social media platform don't necessarily speak for the whole British public.

One surprised user, ChellsPenk, posted a picture of the programme's co-host Declan Donnelly showing an open mouth on his face, with a paired tweet reading: "Me when they announced Mike was leaving instead of Matt".

Earlier in Saturday evening’s episode, the celebrities took part in the much-loved Cyclone challenge, which saw them fight their way up a slippery, obstacle-ridden slope while trying to win stars for camp for one last time.

Hancock appeared delighted by the prospect of taking part, telling his campmates: “I never thought I’d make it to the Cyclone. It’s going to be absolutely brilliant, I can’t wait.”

Back on Twitter, others took a more serious tone and referenced the ex-health secretary's handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. Lucasinlothian commented: "Can’t believe Matt Hancock got to do celebrity cyclone, you all realise he’s responsible, in large quantities, for the deaths of 150,000+ people during the pandemic.

"He also gave government contracts to his mates, broke his own rules, and voted against free school meals."

Meanwhile, others revealed that the reason they were voting for Hancock was to watch people get angry on Twitter. PaintedViper wrote: "If #matthancock wins #ImACeleb I cannot wait to see the drama on #twitter".

While Notoriousbps88 commented: "Hahaha Matt Hancock into the final, it's gas, twitter going into a meltdown."

The I’m a Celebrity final airs on ITV at 9pm on Sunday, November 27.
