People are just realising how to properly 'fluff up' a Christmas tree thanks to easy tip

The perfect date for putting Christmas tree is widely debated, but given December is fast approaching, many festive fans will be braving the loft to fetch their festive decorations and adding some seasonal sparkle to their homes in the coming weeks.

Each family has their own traditions for the big event, and some parents are more precious about their beloved Christmas tree than others. Whether you give your kids have free reign on adding the baubles and tinsel to your festive fir, or insist that each decoration is perfectly arranged to your liking, there's one task that needs doing before you even think about the Christmas decs - and that's fluffing up your tree.

Those who plump for a real tree won't encounter this problem, but anyone who prefers a faux fir will know that each branch needs spacing out and freshening up when you take it out the box for another year.

One woman is debunking everything you thought you knew about tree 'fluffing', however, as she's shared her secret to creating the most natural-looking Christmas tree - and it certainly goes against the grain.

Taking to TikTok to share her holiday hack, the woman, who usually reviews campsites with her partner on her page @thatweirdcouplee, explained how she tackles her Christmas tree branches in a tutorial video.

In the video, she jokes: "Surprisingly, I'm not a professional 'fluffer', but I will give you some good tips".

The woman then shows her non-decorated Christmas tree that's fresh out of the box, panning in on a set of branches that haven't yet been separated to achieve that fluffy, natural-looking affect with no gaps.

She says: "What everyone does, is that start at the back and they go sideways - like flat-on - so you end up with branch shelves".

The TikToker demonstrates this method by separating each branch from the back, fanning them out evenly to create a shelf - but this is where everyone is going wrong, according to her.

The woman continues: "That's where we're going wrong people, as you can see that gap I'm going to get".

Instead, the festive fan fluffs her Christmas tree branches out in random directions, to promote a more natural-looking finish.

"So I'll start at the back and go into different directions. This feels really weird at first because it goes against everything you've been taught as a child, but basically work from the back, make sure you get some at the bottom and just spread them outwards".

She admits that some people may be wondering how to add baubles onto branches that are sticking upwards rather than straight across, but has a nifty workaround for that too.

"You just put your bauble on as normal and you can just tip the end up and it'll hold," she says, while turning the end of a branch up slightly to create a slight hook for the decoration to hang from.

The TikToker praises the method as it helps to avoid any annoying gaps in your Christmas tree.

One person wrote: "I'm I the only one who hates fluffing and de fluffing Christmas trees it's the thing I always dread".

While another added: "Drives me crazy when I see people doing the shelves".

A third person joked "Damn now I’ve gota take all the decorations off n start again!" but others said they were already familiar with the method, as another person added "I've been taught how to do this my whole life".
