The action on the new series of The Only Way is Essex is heating up as the gang enjoy their break in Cyprus and as usual there are some tears, a touching heart-to-heart and of course some confrontation. There's also the shocking return of Amber Turner, who decides to join the TOWIE cast holiday – meaning she will come face-to-face with Dan Edgar for the first time since their split.
In a sneak peek for the latest episode, which airs tonight Sunday, September 10 at 9pm on ITVBe, Dan and long-time TOWIE star, Diags share a heart-to-heart down on the Cypriot seaside, and discuss the impact of Amber's unexpected appearance. Both shocked at Amber’s arrival, Dan expresses his feelings about being on holiday with his ex and how grateful he is for Diags’ friendship.
"Obviously I'd rather she weren't [sic] here," said Dan. "I know you've bitten your tongue with a lot of stuff and I appreciate it. You've been there for me, properly."
Diags added that he knew that Dan had been hurt and added: "I wouldn't be able to do....or the way that you are about it," referring to Amber's presence on the Mediterranean island. Dan teased Diags about being 'a nightmare' but that he 'loved' his pal who he acknowledged had been there for him since he and Amber split back in May.
Also in the new installment, Amber has a confession for Dan. The recently-split couple come face-to-face later in the episode as Amber is taken out for a drink by Courtney Green and Chloe Meadows, but end up in the same bar as Dan. Unexpectedly running into Dan makes Amber emotional as she confesses to still having feelings for him, even though she knows breaking up was the right thing to do.
The couple had been together for six years but during the final months before their split was confirmed neither had posted about each other on social media, with Dan unfollowing Amber in the spring. The couple's silence on social media lead to speculation they were no longer together.
Amber later confirmed the split on her Instagram stories, writing: "I wasn't going to post anything but due to speculation and questions I feel I need to. Yes me and Dan have split. I honestly wish him the best for the future. Please respect our privacy at this time. Thank you."
Stars of the ITVBe show had already confirmed that this was set to be the 'most dramatic season' yet, with star Junaid Ahmed revealing: "This series is the most dramatic TOWIE we've ever done. People are going to be so shocked. There's so much going on this season and friendships are so different, it's literally crazy."
Elsewhere in the latest episode, Elma and Diags avoid the drama and take time to rebuild their friendship with a horse ride through the beautiful scenery. Their friendship could shift a gear, though, as Diags admits that he heard Elma would hook up with him from Saff, Elma is put on the spot and confesses that what Saff told Diags is true. While at an all-white party tensions flare as Junaid and Ella discuss their recent falling out. With Ella claiming that Junaid ignored her 15 phone calls when she needed a friend by her side and Junaid admitting to saying hurtful things, the two find it hard to see eye to eye.
Brand-new TOWIE airs Sundays at 9pm on ITVBe & ITVX.
