Pleebo District, Maryland County- In a surprising turn of events, the Youth President of Pleebo District, Thomas Kuoa Nyemah, has publicly announced his endorsement of the opposition political Unity Party, ahead of the upcoming October 10 general and presidential elections.
This unexpected move has sent shockwaves through the local political landscape and raised questions about the youth’s motivations and the potential impact on the upcoming election.
Thomas Kuoa Nyemah, who has been with the ruling coalition for years announced his move on Saturday, September 9, 2023, in Pleebo City.
He was seen parading the principal streets of Pleebo City with some key members of the Unity Party in Maryland County passionately declaring his support for the opposition’s vision and policies.
“I believe that Unity Party with its leader Amb. Joseph Nyamah Boikai represents the change that our country desperately needs,” Kuoa Nyamah stated at a jammed-parked political gathering held in Pleebo. “His commitment to addressing the critical issues facing our Country such as poor governance system, resonates with me and countless other young people who are seeking a brighter future.”
The endorsement by Koua Nyanmah who has joined the Coalition recently following his resignation from the Alternative National Congress -ANC, has left many political observers speculating about the reasons behind this dramatic shift. Some suggest that Kuoa may be disillusioned with the current administration’s performance or that there may have been internal disagreements within the CDC.
In response to his endorsement, Maryland County Assistant Superintendent for Development and a senior partisan of the ruling coalition, Rubin Scott acknowledged Pleebo youth President’s decision; classifying it as a modern democracy. ” Kuoa, over the years has been with ANC until CDC won the elections in 2017, he resigned and joined the CDC”. Said Hon. Scott. He added ” his move does not in any way move the party.
In a telephone call early Sunday morning, Hon. Scott said “We respect Kuoa’s right to make his own political choices and decision,”.
According to him, the CDC believes that the party’s track record and dedication to the people of Pleebo District and Maryland speak for themselves. “We remain committed to our mission and will continue to work tirelessly for the betterment of our people.” Said Maryland Assistant Superintendent for Development.
Hon. Robin Scott added that despite his ( Kuoa) decision to rejoin the opposition political party, the local government remains committed to working with him as Pleebo Youth President Spelling out NOT Opposition.
” The Local government believes in the interest of the people he represents, if he brings any issues relating to his office that will benefit the youths we will lobby to get it as usual”. He concluded.
The endorsement of Kuoa Nyamah has sparked discussions on social media, with opinions divided among youths of Pleebo District. While some applaud Koua’s courage to speak out and express his beliefs, others view it as a betrayal of the party that helped him rise to prominence.
Political analysts are closely watching to see how his endorsement will impact his new home on October 10, 2023..
