Orange Liberia has commissioned Vanu to deploy at least 200 telecom towers as it seeks to improve rural coverage in the country.
Vanu, which specialises in helping operators reach off-grid markets via turnkey mobile communications solutions, will deploy 2G, 3G and 4G tower across the next two years as part of a network-as-a-service (NaaS) deal signed with Orange in November 2022. The firm will also provide technology upgrades under the agreement.
The deal with Vanu falls under Orange Group’s IDEAL programme, aimed at connecting 20 million people living in underserved rural areas of Africa by deploying 5000 new sites across the next four years. While this initiative is focused on Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire and Liberia, Orange has also signed separate deals with NuRAN Wireless and Africa Mobile Networks (AMN) focused on achieving similar results in Madagasca
