The court has denied bail to a national footballer, Donan Jervier, who is accused of stealing over $12,000.00 in cash from an Issa Trading Ltd. merchants truck.
The robbery is said to have occurred on August 16, 2023, at Grand Bay. The charge was preferred against Jervier following a police investigation into the matter.
At the Court hearing, the accused was not required to enter a plea since the matter is an indictable offense, expected to be tried at the High Court before a judge and jury.
The prosecution was successful in their objection to bail stating that the money allegedly stolen has not been recovered by the police.
Consequently, Jervier was remanded into custody at the Dominica State Prison.
The matter was adjourned to December 4, 2023, for the start of the Preliminary Inquiry.
