Press Release: Guyana victorious over Dominica

Dominican team

Guyana made light work of Dominica in their match on Sunday in Barbados.

Guyana opened the scoring in the 5th minute of play and was awarded a penalty kick soon after making it 2-0, in little time. Guyana continued their dominance and the Nature Ladies could not find a response. Added to their distress, quite a few of their players went down injured. By half time it was 4-0.

The Nature Ladies came from the break without goalkeeper Celia Gregoire who was badly injured. They were more focused and had a little more possession making some attacks at a goal but unable to convert. In the second half of the game, the Nature Ladies conceded only one goal. At the end of play, the score was 5-0.

Head coach of the Nature Ladies, Ronnie Gustav says that the team has a lot of work to do. He stated that the girls lacked aggression and focus at the beginning of the game and were unable to carry out the game plan.

Meanwhile, head coach of the Guyana Lady Jags said that after the loss against Antigua, the team knew what they had to do.

Chante Sandiford added that her team is disciplined and ready to take on the task of representing their country. They hold each other accountable to the rules set in place and to the expectations they have of each other as ambassadors of their island.

The Nature Ladies will play their next two matches in October.
