De Klerk’s extradition postponed to January

Extradition proceedings for fugitive lawyer Marén de Klerk has been postponed to January 2024, Anti-Corruption Commission director general Paulus Noa said on Tuesday.

According to Noa, De Klerk’s extradition proceedings were postponed to 15 and 16 January on Tuesday morning.

“I have no details about the reasons for the postponement. You may consult with the Office of the Prosecutor General or the Ministry of Justice for reasons,” Noa said.

De Klerk’s extradition proceedings were due to commence in a Cape Town court on Monday.

He is wanted in Namibia to face charges of corruption, fraud, theft and money laundering related to the Fishrot corruption scandal.
